System Accountant

The role

We want this role to enable Brompton to make better decisions, faster. The core of the finance function is data and we are firm believers in real-time analytics and the empowerment of the wider business. To achieve this, we are implementing new systems across the finance function and require the technical capability to ensure we maximise the value from these systems. We are looking for someone with that capability and ambition to optimise our financial systems across the UK, US and German operations.


How you’ll contribute:

  • Implement Finance improvement projects: Overview on all Finance IT projects with a view to a joined up development within the IT roadmap and the Business Intelligence team.
  • Lead specific strategic Finance projects for improvement as IT resources made available, test developed changes, and provide feedback to IT and Finance.
  • Project scope includes, but is not limited to: Process improvement, regulatory requirements, maintenance of existing data structures and flows, improvement of existing data structures and flows.
  • Process change: Provide tactical change support as needed to existing finance process.
  • Finance systems: In conjunction with IT and Master Data teams, provide administration and maintenance of current General Ledger system, reconciliation systems, and spreadsheets.
  • Business intelligence: Assist in development of business intelligence reports and analysis with a view to business efficiency and profitability.
  • Accounting: Ownership of the setup and ongoing financial reporting of our US subsidiary and newly incorporated German subsidiary.

Job requirements

You should apply if you:

  • AAT qualified or ACCA/ACA/CIMA (part) qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Have strong SQL skills and are familiar with general data warehousing concepts and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience in implementation and development of finance systems (i.e. the architecture and integrations).
  • Have experience of developing and improving financial reporting and financial procedures.
  • Have previous experience of manufacturing and/or ecommerce.
  • Have previous experience of preparing management accounts.
  • Understanding of a group accounting principles.
  • Good communicator.
  • Able to manage heavy workload & strict deadlines.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail.
