We are now applying the latest engineering techniques, materials and advanced manufacturing methods to build new products to continue our success into the next decades. Brompton is seeking an outstanding mechanical engineer to join our structural engineering team. The team is responsible for the development of innovative and highly optimised structural components and for providing engineering support to development teams across the business on their parts and projects. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of engineering science and simulation tools to deliver outstanding engineering outcomes. Brompton will provide expert mentoring, relevant training and plenty of engineering challenges in order that you develop quickly as an engineer and an individual.


  • Excellent engineering science fundamentals; materials, stress, product life and failure, particularly fatigue failure.
  • Experience in the use of FEA; being able to perform linear and non-linear structural analysis. This includes model creation, running/debugging and analysis
  • Experience of CAD, preferably Solidworks
  • Experience of correlating FEA results with lab tests and strain gauge data
  • Creation of high-quality technical reports
  • Highly motivated, a self-starter and a self-learner
  • Non-linear FEA
  • Familiarity with the Altair Hyperworks suite;
    • Setup and interpretation of linear finite element analysis using Hypermesh
  • Setup and interpretation of topology optimisation studies in Optistruct
  • Post-processing in Hyperview
  • Creating accurate load cases from instrumented products: gathering, processing, and using primary load data
  • Experience in Simsolid and Inspire an advantage
  • Fatigue prediction from FEA results using Hyperlife an advantage
  • Experience of developing around and optimising for manufacturing techniques:
    • o Machining
  • o Casting
  • o Forging
  • o Welding and brazing
  • o Surface treatment
  • o Heat treatment
  • Familiarity with bicycle technology



Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline

A minimum of 4/5 years of relevant industry experience.
