The role

Overall, the senior NPI buyer needs to work between the purchasing manager and the NPI buyers. The main expectation is for the senior production buyer to take over the NPI purchasing task planning, monitoring, and reporting of the NPI buying team and be the first point of help if the NPI buyers have problems that they cannot solve.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Making sure buyers have plans to complete their purchasing tasks, reviewing buyers’ plans and helping to optimise the plans for all projects.
• Monitoring the buyers plans and reporting the status to the purchasing manager.
• Helping buyers to catch up with plans if there is any delay(s)
• Identifying areas where there needs improvement and process and helping the purchasing manager to implement improvement and process
• Trouble shooting for the NPI buying team where is needed
• Performing NPI purchasing tasks like sourcing, RFQs, negotiating, contracting and supplier relationship management
• Managing your own new parts or projects.

Key skills required

• Must be a problem solver
• Proactive, open, honest and have attention to detail
• Ability to analyse, think logically, learn things quickly and understand the concept of lean management and value adding
• Solid purchasing knowledge. Must be in the purchasing role for at least 5 years.
• A track record of achievements in the purchasing area
• Good at the Microsoft office software, especially EXCEL to do data analysis
• Must have good understanding of manufacturing process
• Must have a basic understanding of engineering drawings
• Basic understandings of bike parts
• 2-3 years working experience in manufacturing industry
• Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable skills

• CIPS qualification is desirable

Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferable but non- essential
