Brompton Bicycle manufactures in its factory in West London a bike that is generally considered the best portable bike there is. The company is privately-owned, successful and profitable, and we have good relationships with our distributors and users.

The role

To provide support to the business in the form of ordering, receipting, and invoicing of all non-stocked items via the prevailing ERP system. You would be expected to obtain the best quotes wherever possible. From time to time you would be expected to help in other departments within the Supply Chain Team. All tasks would be completed whilst adhering to all processes and procedures within the department.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To manage purchasing of all non-stocked items as requested by the business
  • Coordinating and supporting the raising of purchase orders, order confirmations and order receipting
  • Provide excellent customer service to the business stakeholders
  • Monitor supplier performance based on quality, price and delivery for items and or service
  • Resolving any purchasing queries related to purchasing requisitions
  • Data Inputting of key information into the business system (ERP)
  • Providing support to the Warehouse Team in receipting deliveries
  • Helping with the monthly and yearly stock checks and audits
  • Maintaining and reporting on the KPI’s for the department
  • To attend training and meetings as and when required
  • Ensuring compliance with the health, safety and environmental requirements of materials and services
  • From time to time you will be required to help the standard buying team
  • Any other jobs that may be deemed necessary by the Purchasing Manager

Job requirements

Key Skills required

  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • A working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Must exhibit good interpersonal skills to get along with internal and external stakeholders
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Work as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • Must have a “hands on” approach
  • Punctual, methodical & reliable
  • Have a “can do attitude”
  • Be able to generate a wide range of solutions
  • An awareness of Health and Safety law and best practices
  • An understanding/compliance to Dignity and Diversity in the workplace

Desirable Skills

  • Worked in a purchasing environment for more than 2 years
  • A working knowledge of Purchase Requisition Ordering within a ERP/MRP environment

Education

A qualification in a related field would be desirable, however the ability to demonstrate a solid purchasing background is essential.
