Department: Quality

Responsible to: Quality Engineer

Hours: 40 Hours

The Role

The Production Quality Technician is responsible for IPQC (In Process Quality Control).

The Production Quality Technician will be the first point of contact on the shop-floor for any issues related to the manufacturing processes to collect and formalise for analysis by the Customer Quality Engineering Team.

The Production Quality Technician will assess any issues and inefficiencies and then provide detailed information onto the Quality Assurance Department.

Main duties

Quality & Manufacturing Processes

  • Maintain knowledge of the manufacturing processes.
  • Follows and identifies Kaizen opportunities (Continuous Improvement)
  • Provide feedback to Quality Assurance on new products and new manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure that the work is carried out to the correct process, as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Quality Standards.
  • Assist in the upkeep and management of the SOP’s, alerting Production Engineering & Quality Assurance when SOP’s are out of date or opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with process and product audits
  • Assist with Internal PPAP
  • Communicate issues and improvements to Quality Assurance

Quality Engineering projects

  • Work alongside Production Engineering on Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Identify areas of inefficiency or poor quality to help with the prioritisation of work.
  • Be responsible for collecting data, timings, operator feedback where necessary.
  • Undertake 5S projects and be responsible for clean working environments and machinery.
  • Assist with solving quality issues, performing 8D analyses and other RCA (Root Cause Analysis) work; ensure that solutions are successfully implemented and kept to.

  • Engineering-based experience and knowledge.
