We continue to make the Brompton in West London, where we started in 1975, but our product has travelled far - we now export 80% of our bicycles to 52 countries. The recent cycling boom is one of many we’ve ridden, but our product has steadily gained a larger following, as increased urbanisation, crowding on public transport and more modern, complex and flexible lifestyles all create the same macro trends.

Over the last ten years Brompton has taken the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of compatible brands, some of these partnerships have extended over multiple iterations and developed their own fan clubs. With a more developed product range and sales channels the opportunity for collaboration and special editions within the Brompton sphere increases.


The Role


The Senior Product Marketing Manager – Partnerships will develop and build on the lessons from recent special edition launches. They will build a partnerships strategy which support Brompton’s purpose, using collaborations to unlock new opportunities, introduce our product to new customers and to help Brompton develop its internal capabilities.


The successful candidate will fill a niche between Product Management, Marketing and Sales. They will work full time to deliver the best possible Special Editions and Collaborations, across Bikes, P+A and services. They will work to bring a new vision of product guided by developing Brompton’s perception and visibility as a brand. Most of their time will be spent at the Greenford factory, where they can help partners understand how unique Brompton is.


Main duties

Roadmap:

  • Work with Insight, Sales, Marketing and external partners to build a global strategy around the markets and customers that collaborations could target. Continually update with the evolving goals of Brompton.
  • Develop a pipeline of special editions and collaborations which support Brompton’s strategic goals alongside testing us functionally, to do new and exciting projects.
  • Approach new partners or field incoming requests, maintaining organised information in a consistent manner, representing Brompton professionally.
  • Build out the story of the collaboration, working with the marketing and design teams, into something that can be digested by the business, helping understand the wide variety of potential benefits.

Project Manage:

  • Use the business tools: Product roadmap, PACE, Wrike and others to manage the Special Editions through the business engaging with all departments as required, including Quality, Purchasing, Design, NPI, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales, Marketing.
  • Chair steering groups on large projects or update teams with information on smaller projects, feeding into the monthly Product roadmap cycle.

Launch:

  • Work with the Marketing team and the collaboration partner to develop engaging launches which will maximise the reach of the product into the targeted channels.
  • Hand hold the project through to a successful launch, ensuring there are no late surprises.

Evaluate:

  • Build the metrics of a successful collaboration, tracking digital reach and impressions, sales performance and success with target markets.

Measures of success

  • Internally aligned 2 year Special Edition roadmap by September ‘22
  • KPIs to measure Specials tested and refined on projects in ‘23
  • Grow reach in target customer segments by 50% in ’24 (Targets TBD)
  • New projects delivered on original plan and within budget constraints.

Job requirements

  • Three years’ experience in a related role
  • Experience of best in class marketing programs
  • Must enjoy detailed Project Management and closing off details
  • Desirable to have Prince 2 or other project management qualification
  • Client facing experience including negotiation is valuable
  • Can combine being strategic, tactical, analytical and influence, a coalition builder
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related subject
