JOB TITLE - PDM ADMINISTRATOR

DEPARTMENT - DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

REPORTS TO - CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT LEAD


SUMMARY

The Brompton is the iconic product of its type, a unique bike used and loved in over forty countries around the world. Sales have grown rapidly over the last ten years, making us the largest bicycle manufacturer in the UK, with our products still designed and made by hand right here in London. Despite this we feel like we are just getting started and there is huge potential to make our bike lighter, more capable, and more fun to use.

With a fast-growing CAD user team and ever more complex projects the risks of us working on top of each other has increased so we have recently added SolidWorks PDM to our toolkit and need and experienced administrator to help us manage that.


JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced, effective and detail oriented PDM administrator who can take full ownership of the CAD and workflow management.

With a continuous improvement mindset you will identify and capitalise on opportunities to improve CAD and PDM processes and systems.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the design CAD registry is kept up to date and the integrity of the data held within it is regularly checked and is aligned with the Brompton ERP database.
  • Maintain the SolidWorks user group access rights.
    • Create new users and assign appropriate groups and permissions.
    • Adjust permissions when users move teams.
    • Remove users who no longer require access.
  • Write and maintain approval and document control workflows for use around the business. For example:
    • Change request (CR) and engineering Change notice (CN)
    • Key project milestone documents
    • Drawing approval and design release
  • Act as administrator for the SolidWorks PDM Vault ensuring a tidy and neat layout with no stray files in places they should not be.
  • Perform database support, upgrade, and maintenance activities.
  • Administer the material library and update the team whenever new material data is added.
  • Write and maintain training materials for SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Provide on-boarding support for new CAD users and keep a registry of user group training level/status.
  • Maintain the roadmap for system development and assist IT team with CAD user group software updates.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


5+ years minimum experience in a similar role and at least 2 years using SolidWorks PDM

Demonstrated skills in


    Generating PDM approval workflows.

    Management of user groups and permission setting

    developing and conducting training in PDM and CAD applications.

    Advanced Excel document creation and macro management is highly desirable.

    Experience of PDM/PLM administration an advantage (Infor CSI, SAP, Siemens PLM Teamcenter, Insight or similar)

    Working Knowledge of BOM structures, change management and design principles.


    QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL

    Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or similar technical discipline.

    2-5 years professional experience with a minimum of 2 years in a PDM administrator role.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Good attention to detail.

    Results oriented attitude to work.
