Manufacturing Support Engineer

Job description

Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing engineering team in delivering projects to improve manufacturing capability, flexibility, efficiency, and quality by rapid trouble shooting and undertaking continuous improvement projects.

Main duties

  • Assist the manufacturing engineering team with projects through practical assistance
  • Create process flows, analyse, and improve them using LEAN principles of manufacturing
  • Conduct timing studies and trials on new processes for optimization
  • Create project plans and manage them to completion
  • The ability to interpret CAD models and 2D drawings of new parts and tools
  • Develop strong professional relationships that will enable you to work cross functionally when delivering tasks
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that defects are minimised, recorded and acted upon
  • Work closely with the in-house Tooling & Equipment team to produce new jigs and fixtures
  • Produce Standard Operating Procedures for training purpose
  • Write technical specifications and deliver our requirements to the tooling team when required

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and efficient time management
  • Ability to work in a team or alone and unsupervised
  • A hands-on practical approach, with an understanding of workshop safety
  • Logical thinker, reliable, good record keeper, and ability to multitask
  • Highly computer literate
