Job Purpose

Brompton is seeking an all-round Legal Counsel with a strong background in Intellectual Property law to support the growing business. Reporting to the General Counsel, the applicant will enjoy an extremely broad role and work closely with stakeholders from across the global business.


Main duties

  • Provide timely, effective, reliable and user-friendly advice on legal issues and risks.
  • Drive the Group’s IP strategy and design and mange internal processes to safeguard IP.
  • Assist in the management of the Group’s IP portfolio (including trade marks, designs, copyright, patent) and brand protection strategy.
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial contracts (including distributor, dealer and licensing agreements, supplier agreements, digital and development agreements,).
  • Advise the Group’s consumer-facing business (e-commerce, physical stores and hire) on all compliance matters (including terms and conditions of sale/hire and sales policies).
  • Become a trusted adviser to business leaders.

Skills and Requirements

  • 2:1 BA/BS/LLB degree or equivalent
  • Qualified lawyer in UK
  • 2-4 years PQE desirable and good private practice training and experience
  • Broad experience of international IP law, experience in trademark, copyright, design right and patent prosecution and enforcement
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial contracts (B2B and B2C)
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Experience in a commercial setting (in-house /client secondment)

  • You have superior communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to adapt communication style to suit a particular situation
  • You are able to work autonomously and desire to take ownership of projects
  • You are able to deliver a high standard of work under time constraint
  • You have excellent analytical, organisational and leadership skills
