Brompton is a highly respected British manufacturer of bespoke folding bikes, each bike being hand made in the London factory. For many owners of our bikes, Brompton is part of their lifestyle and an expression of who they are. Brompton wants to transform cities by providing the means to commute or explore, with a bike that you can take anywhere, we can change the way people live in cities creating happier and healthier lives for our customers. We now export over 75% of our bicycles to 45 countries, with revenue almost doubling over the past 3 years, driven by our high-quality products and the resurgence of cycling. In recent years we’ve invested in a new purpose-built production facility, transformed our digital architecture, opened new flagship stores and launched our ecommerce platform. We’re not stopping there and have plans to step on and deliver significant growth over the next 5 years.


About Brompton in Europe

Brompton’s have sold across Europe for many years. More recently distribution has become increasingly centralised, with exclusive distributors being replaced by in-market Brompton commercial teams, supported by dedicated HQ resource based in London. A network of circa 600 doors across national and independent retailers service the region, along with two owned and five licensed Brompton Junction stores, plus a recently launched direct-to-home ecommerce channel through Brompton.com. Now fully controlling distribution across all key markets within the region (DACH, FR, ES, IT, Benelux & Nordics), an increased resource investment across People, Product, Digital Infrastructure and Logistics is set to further accelerate performance. Outside of directly serviced markets, a network of distributors is in place covering the wider Central/Eastern European area and Middle East.


The Role

We are searching for an experienced Sales Manager to deliver our ambitious regional omnichannel sales plan across selected EMEA markets. Reporting directly into the UK & European Head of Sales, you shall be responsible for developing and executing the regional strategy and delivering sales performance of all products. You will manage a team of direct reports made up of in-market Country Managers and Sales Representatives (minimum 4 people with scope to increase), as well as personally take responsibility for a network of Distributors across the region. Your work shall naturally bring you close to your various peers in London HQ, particularly across the other commercial functions of Sales Ops, Marketing, Customer Service and Finance. Additionally, you will become a key support to the Retail and Ecommerce teams. The role is subject to travel to build relations with key trade accounts and your team, as well as your distributors, whilst expanding your market knowledge.


Job requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing market strategy and annual plans
  • Delivering sales revenue/volume/product annual targets, company KPIs and financial objectives
  • Responsible for overall business performance in each country, including D2C where applicable
  • Overseeing continued development of Key Account Plans with national and key trade accounts
  • Responsible for developing new incremental sales channels (e.g. leasing)
  • Responsible for building the Brompton brand in each country
  • Driving sales team performance and its continued mentoring and measurement
  • Oversee the hiring, training and development of staff in your markets
  • Feeding information to colleagues in Marketing, Design and Purchasing to develop future strategy
  • Gathering market, competitor and customer data whilst executing product/marketing strategy

  • Meeting region and country specific KPIs and annual targets
  • High quality customer experience at Dealers - meeting Brompton Accreditation standards
  • Development on DTC sales channel of scale (both retail and ecommerce)
  • High performance of both the business and your sales teams
  • Budget accuracy
  • Quality of relationships with peers and national accounts

The Person

A confident, self-assured, innovative sales manager, with comprehensive experience developed managing multi-channel sales, national accounts of scale, and international sales teams – a prerequisite. You shall be highly numerate and analytical; results focussed and organised; a self-motivated individual that works effectively and efficiently remotely and that can deliver. Ideal candidates will have experience of both traditional sales channels of retailer and distributor led models, alongside an omni channel approach that includes direct to consumer. Additionally, you will be personable, able to develop business relationships at all levels quickly and effectively, resourceful and most importantly, entrepreneurial. Solid bicycle industry knowledge would be a bonus but certainly not a pre-requisite to the role. Applicants from lifestyle brands/products, technical sporting goods and tech firms that have a strong ongoing support relationship with their customers would be ideal. Of most significance is your commercial capability, ability to build and manage your business and teams and bring something new to what we are already doing.

Specific requirements include:

  • Past Sales Management responsibility for over £10m annual revenue across multiple countries
  • Minimum five years’ sales management experience
  • Minimum three years’ experience managing high performing remote sales teams
  • Minimum three years’ experience managing regional and national trade accounts
  • Minimum two years’ managing multichannel sales
  • Fluent in English, written and oral; preferably multilingual but not essential
  • Willingness to travel, holding a valid passport and driving licence is essential
  • Able to be present in our West London HQ in Greenford as required
