Brompton Fletcher is a self-sufficient company owned by Brompton Bicycle, based in London, and on the site of CW Fletcher, based in Sheffield. In the beginning Brompton Fletcher was a joint-venture between the two companies. Using CW Fletcher’s expertise in welding and forming Titanium parts for the aerospace industry and the engineering and drive of a fantastic product at Brompton, Brompton Fletcher was born.

Due to increasing demand in Brompton’s incredibly successful range of products, Brompton now fully own Brompton Fletcher.

We are looking for a new member to join our friendly and welcoming team at Brompton Fletcher. The company continues to grow with Brompton and the future looks very bright with new projects approaching and an ever-increasing output.

Requirements:

The person we are looking for to join our team would show enthusiasm towards not only their job role but the company and team as a whole. They must be reliable and honest, and should be a strong team player as everyone plays a critical role in ensuring we meet our monthly deadlines and targets. We need someone who can follow instructions but also use their own initiative when necessary.

A new member of the team will receive all the training and support they require however we work in a shop floor environment which can be dangerous. We therefore need someone who is vigilant and aware of their surroundings. Having practical knowledge will be an advantage however it is not essential.


Opportunities:

All our employees start as an operator, we then have an in-house training scheme which allows employees to upskill and develop within their role to become a trained TIG welder.

Benefits package:

Hours: Monday – Friday 08:00 – 16:30

Holidays: 35 days inc stats and a number of days for a Christmas shutdown.

Pension: 3.5% Employee & 4.5% Employer contributions.

Job requirements

General Summary:

To work with all members of the Brompton Fletcher team in order to support the welding operations in a number of ways. The main aspects of this include, forming, drilling and pressing parts.

The Team Member is expected to be the sole inspector of final assemblies as the last stage of production before they are shipped to our Parent Company / Customer, Brompton Bicycle LTD.

There is an expectation of the Team Member to represent Brompton Fletcher Limited in a professional and polite manner to anyone they should come in to contact with, both internal and external.


Core Responsibilities:

May include, but not limited to;

  • Carrying out the booking in and out of Raw material and WIP and understanding the process and the reasons why this is an integral part of production.
  • To assist in the building of WIP parts.
  • Report scrap correctly and honestly, both on the paperwork and in the Master Spreadsheet.
  • All operations must be done in line with SOPs (Standards of Procedure) and Risk Assessments.
  • Undertaking accurate stock-taking on a weekly basis.
  • Part-marking final components correctly and understanding the importance of why it must be done correctly.
  • Understand the importance of traceability and why it is used.
  • To report Quality issues, Health & Safety issues and process problems to the relevant person.
  • Work to strict and proven SOPs to achieve the best results in work and safety.
  • Ensure a detailed inspection is carried out of finished parts before they are packed and despatched to the customer.
  • Loading the despatch vehicle in a safe manner when despatching part boxes, whilst ensuring the right amount of parts have been packed and loaded.
  • Represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times demonstrating an understanding and commitment to good practice.
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.


Health & Safety

  • All individuals have a responsibility, under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequently published regulations, to ensure the Company’s health and safety policies and procedures are complied with to maintain a safe working environment for employees and any visitors.
  • All staff have a duty to protect their own health and safety.
  • Employees must ensure the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn at all times. PPE is provided to employees by the company.
  • Any problems or issues must be reported to the relevant individuals in a timely manner without delay.
  • All accidents must be reported to a First Aider.

  • Learn the process and basic theory of TIG welding Titanium.
  • Advance to meeting the speeds and requirements of the company’s highest standards
  • Learn the process of orbital welding.
